East Renfrewshire leads Scottish recycling chart
East Renfrewshire is once again leading the way in recycling with more than 58% of household waste being recycled.

The latest figures, which were released by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, cover the period from January to December 2021 and show East Renfrewshire has the highest level of recycling in Scotland at 58.1%, well above the national average of 42.7%.
Residents recycled more than 23,500 tonnes of waste in 2021, helping the Council achieve an increase on the 2020 results from 56.6%.
Councillor Danny Devlin, Convener for Environment and Housing said: "This is a really great achievement for East Renfrewshire. Increased recycling is not only beneficial to the environment, but it also helps us save significantly on landfill costs. We would like to say thank you to all of our residents for helping to make East Renfrewshire a cleaner and greener place for all to enjoy.
We are committed to continually improving our performance, and in recent years joined neighbouring authorities in the Clyde Valley Residual Waste Project. This partnership, which was the first of its kind in Scotland, makes a significant contribution to managing household waste more effectively. Waste that would previously been sent to landfill, is now transformed into low carbon electricity."
