Festive arrangements 2024/25
Find out our arrangements for rubbish and recycling this festive period
We've confirmed our plans for waste collection and recycling ahead of the upcoming festive period:
- There'll be no household bin collections on Wednesday 25 December 2024 and Wednesday 1 January 2025. If your bins are normally collected on a Wednesday, please put them out on Thursday instead and they'll be collected by Saturday.
Excluding Wednesdays, we'll aim to collect all other days of the week as normal but these may be delayed by 24/48 hours.
- There'll be no brown bin collections from Monday 23 December 2024 until Monday 6 January 2025.
- Special uplifts will also be suspended from Monday 23 December 2024 until Monday 6 January 2025. You will be able to book uplifts again from Friday 3 January 2025.
- Barrhead and Greenhags recycling centres will be closed on Christmas and New Year's Day. Both sites will close at 3pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Remember to make a booking before travelling to the sites.
- If you have a garden waste permit, you will be able to have your tree collected after Christmas at no additional cost. Your tree must be broken down and disposed of in your bin, with the lid fully closed. No trees will be lifted from the pavement.
If you don't have a permit and wish to have your tree collected, you can pay £15.65 for a one-off uplift. These uplifts will only be available until Friday 10 January and you can pay for this online from Monday 16 December. Your tree must be broken down and disposed of in your bin, with the lid fully closed. No trees will be lifted from the pavement.
Alternatively, we're offering a free chipping service at Cowan Park in Barrhead and Rouken Glen in Giffnock. There are fenced off areas within both parks, beside the car parks. You can leave your tree in these areas.
You can also take your tree to either of our recycling centres free of charge. Book a slot for the recycling centres. Please note, garden waste disposal at Greenhags recycling centre is accessed via stairs.
