Strategic Environmental Assessment
Find out what a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is, its stages and what SEAs have been completed by the Strategy team.
What's a Strategic Environmental Assessment?
Strategic Environmental Assesments (SEA) have been introduced into Scottish legislation through the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005. They are formal assessments of plans, programmes and strategies, which are likely to have a significant effect on the environment. The aim of a SEA is to increase awareness of environmental issues during decision making and to improve public involvement in the process.
The most recent data collected for use in the preparation of our SEA reports is available from the state of environment report.
The following SEAs have been prepared by the Strategy team:
SEA Local Development Plan
The SEA assesses the likely significant effects that the Local Development Plan (LDP) may have on the environment.
