Have your say and help make a difference in Netherlee and Stamperland
East Renfrewshire residents who are passionate about their area are being urged to get involved in the Netherlee and Stamperland Community Council election.

Community Councils are a special type of community group who are consulted on important local issues, such as new housing plans, alcohol licensing applications and crime. These groups provide a direct link between the local community and the Council, NHS, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and other public bodies.
Members of the group can share their views on many issues that affect the local area, offering local residents the opportunity to come together, discuss and campaign specific matters of interest to their particular local community and ensure their voices are heard on important matters. It is also an opportunity to run local events and support good causes.
Councillor Colm Merrick, Convener for Community Services and Community Safety, said: 'Community Councils play a vital role in their local areas, in local democracy and represent their community to the Council. By joining a community council, you will be able to make a positive impact, which will benefit your local area. With 18 vacant seats, I would encourage anyone who is enthusiastic in making a difference in Netherlee and Stamperland to consider getting involved.'
Anyone wishing to stand for election must be a resident in the community council area, aged 16 years or over and named on the electoral register. The proposer and seconder must also stay in the community council area, with self-nomination not permitted.
The nomination period opens on Thursday 13 May and closes on Wednesday 9 June at 4.45pm.
