What's a cookie?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit. They're widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. They don't have access to any files or information stored on your computer. Cookies allow websites to recognise a user's device and store information about the user's preferences or past actions.

Why do we use cookies?

Cookies make websites easier to use. We use cookies on a few areas of our website, which we've broken this down into sections below so you understand why they're being used.

  1. We use necessary cookies to make our site work.
  2. We would like to set optional analytics cookies to help improve our site.
  3. We won't set optional cookies unless you select the option to enable.

One of the cookies (the ASP.Net session cookie) we use is essential for parts of the site to operate and has already been set. You may delete and block all cookies from the website but parts of the site won't work.

The analytical cookies are used to collect information about how visitors use our website. We use the information to create reports and to help improve the website. The cookies collect information in a way that won't directly identify anyone and includes the following:

  • Number of users to our website
  • Type of device
  • Operating system
  • Screen resolution

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to show us how people found our site, how they explored it, and use this information to improve our website.

We're unable to identify individuals through Google Analytics. We've also taken an additional step to maintaining your privacy by anonymising IP addresses that are picked up by Google Analytics. The information that we collect doesn't directly identify anyone.

We've not enabled Google Analytics Advertising Features.

To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites, visit the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (opens new window).

YouTube

We embed video content from our official YouTube channel using YouTube's privacy enhanced mode on our website.

The video player may set cookies on your computer once you click on the YouTube video player, but won't store personally-identifiable cookie information for playbacks of embedded videos using the privacy enhanced mode.

Social media

We use Facebook and Twitter to keep our customers up to date with our latest news and events.

Twitter uses cookie technology to collect additional website usage data and to improve their site and service.

You preferences will be stored for a period of 90 days and thereafter you'll be asked to restate your preferences. When we make a change to our cookies prior to the 90 day expiry term you'll also be asked to restate your preferences.

How do I change my cookie settings?

Cookie preferences can be changed at any time by selecting the cookie icon. You can then adjust the available slider to 'on' or 'off', then select 'save and close'. For your new setting to take effect you may need to refresh your page.

Alternatively, most web browsers allow some form of control of most cookies though the browser settings.  To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit the About Cookies website (opens new window).
