Have your say in our Local Action Plans
We're launching a series of public consultations to help develop Local Actions Plans which will assist in transforming towns and neighbourhoods across the local authority.
Following consultations launched earlier this year covering Barrhead, Newton Mearns, Thornliebank, Busby and Neilston, this second series will include Clarkston, Eaglesham and Giffnock.
Over the next 5 years, the UK and Scottish Governments are providing capital regeneration funding opportunities for town centres and neighbourhoods across Scotland and our Economic Development team want to ensure that communities in East Renfrewshire are able to make the most of these opportunities by delivering on transformational plans across the area.
The Local Action Plans will help identify and develop projects that could be delivered when funding opportunities arise.
The investments can cover a wide range of projects such as upgrading town centre public realm and green spaces, making better use of land and existing buildings, shop front improvement schemes, improved digital connectivity and developing active travel opportunities.
The online consultations launch on Monday 3 October and there will be drop-in events held in the three towns to allow the community to have their say in person:
- Eastwood House, Giffnock on Tuesday 4 October (9.30am to 11am) and then Wednesday 5 October (3pm to 7pm)
- Clarkston Hall on Tuesday 18 October (9.30am to 11am) and then Clarkston Library Wednesday 19 October (3pm to 7pm)
- Eglinton Arms Hotel, Eaglesham on Tuesday 1st November (9.30am - 11am and then 3.30pm - 7pm)
Housing and Environment Convener, Councillor Danny Devlin said: 'These consultations are a really valuable opportunity for the local community to tell us what improvements they'd like to see in their area. We're committed to investing in and upgrading public spaces and facilities across East Renfrewshire and we want to ensure that when funding is available, we're confident of where it should be spent. I'd encourage anyone who can, to have their say online or drop-in to one of our engagement events. I'd also like to thank those who participated in our first series of town consultations that took place earlier in the year.'
The consultations will be available online from 3 October here: eastrenfrewshireprogramme.commonplace.is/ and will close on 21 November.
