We Are East Ren Awards 2023
We hosted our annual staff recognition event to recognise hard-working staff going above and beyond for residents.

Staff gathered at Clarkston Hall to celebrate the achievements of colleagues from across the Council and Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).
Awards were handed out in eight categories, which are designed to tie in to our Vision for the Future of being a modern, ambitious council creating a fairer future with all.
The winners in each category were:
- Putting People First - Andy Crumlish, a support worker in the HSCP who makes a real difference to the children and young people he works with.
- Going the Extra Mile - Cathie Fraser, Information Security and Digital Risk Officer, who has gone over and above to ensure our networks remain secure and safe.
- Young Employee of the Year - Isabelle Hopkins, Climate Change Data Officer, who undertakes important reporting on our climate change progress.
- Team of the Year - Housing Options Team,who carry out vital work every day with some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
- Unsung Hero - Stevie Devine, janitor at St Luke's High School, who was praised by many pupils and staff at the school for the dedication and kindness he shows them.
- Leader of the Year - Gordon Stewart, Head of Maths at Mearns Castle High School, who is committed to bringing about any change that will make a meaningful improvement to the school.
- Values Champion - Farkhanda Chaudhry,Strategic Services Officer, who always shows great kindness to colleagues and has established trust with many people across the community.
- Chief Executive's Award - Jim Welsh, Resettlement Employability Client Advisor, who goes the extra mile to support his clients, many of whom have gone through unimaginable trauma before arriving in East Renfrewshire.
Chief Executive Steven Quinn said: 'Congratulations to all our winners from the We Are East Ren Awards. It was wonderful to celebrate the amazing contribution made by so many of our staff and hear all the stories about the work which goes on day-in day-out to ensure our residents receive the best services possible.'
A total of 20 finalists were shortlisted across the eight award categories before a panel of judges decided on the winners.
The winners were selected for showing absolute dedication to their role, often going above and beyond to ensure they delivered the very highest standards.
