Local Action Plans: have your say
We're finalising the Local Action Plans which will assist in transforming towns and neighbourhoods across the local authority and the public can now give their views on the priorities identified.
Published 25 March 2024
The options included in each Local Action Plan came from our first round of consultations when over 1,500 people had their say online and in-person, providing over 6,000 contributions.
There are separate Local Action Plans for eight areas across East Renfrewshire including Barrhead, Busby, Clarkston, Eaglesham, Giffnock, Neilston, Newton Mearns and Thornliebank.
The options identified cover a wide range of improvements such as upgrading town centre public realm and green spaces, making better use of land and existing buildings and improved active travel opportunities.
Over the coming years, the UK and Scottish Governments are providing capital regeneration funding opportunities for town centres and neighbourhoods across Scotland and we want to ensure that communities in East Renfrewshire are able to make the most of these opportunities by delivering on transformational plans across the area. The Local Action Plans will help identify and develop projects that could be delivered when funding opportunities arise.
Environment and Housing Convener, Councillor Danny Devlin said: 'Our Local Action Plans will ensure we're ready to take advantage of any regeneration funding opportunities that come our way. We were really pleased to see so many people have their say in our first round of consultation, so thank you to everyone who participated. There are some really exciting and interesting options identified in each of the eight areas, so I'd encourage anyone who can, to once again have their say ahead of the plans being finalised.'
Access the consultations on each of the eight towns and neighbourhoods.
Paper versions of the surveys can also be found in East Renfrewshire libraries. Closing date for submissions is 6 May.
