Play time upgrades across East Renfrewshire
We're set to upgrade play areas across East Renfrewshire in the coming months.
More than £350,000 will be invested in improvement works, which includes the Council's annual renewal programme, ensuring East Renfrewshire parks and play areas are maintained and safe.
The programme is funded through the Scottish Government, alongside developer contributions which provides funding from relevant planning proposals to mitigate the impact any new development may have on local services, infrastructure and facilities.
The works will get underway this month and include the installation of new and accessible play equipment, additional fencing and paths and the refurbishment of existing equipment.
One of the play areas receiving a full refurbishment is Netherlee Playing Fields. Scottish Government funding totalling £105,000 was secured for this project and a consultation held earlier this year allowed the local community to have their say on what they'd like to see in the park. This helped the Council with the final design, which can be viewed here: https://eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/playpark-survey-results
East Renfrewshire Council Leader Owen O'Donnell, said: 'East Renfrewshire has some fantastic parks throughout the authority, so I'm delighted to see this investment programme confirmed and the wide range of upgrades which will take place from Eaglesham to Neilston and beyond. Having safe, fun and accessible spaces for young people to enjoy outdoors is really important and these works are testament to our commitment to providing residents and visitors with high-quality facilities.'
