How can I reduce car pollution?
- Avoid using cars for short journeys
- Care for your car. Check tuning, tyre pressure, breaks and fuel consumption
- Get a regular service
- Remove weight you don't need. For example, a roof rack
- Consider low rolling resistance tyres
- Use higher gears when you can
- Switch off your engine when stopped
- Only use air conditioning when you need it
- Share journeys or lift share
We carry out roadside emissions checks on cars with Police Scotland.
We issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) to drivers of cars which fail the roadside emissions test.
