Report litter problems including overflowing bins and missing or broken bins.
Service information
The street cleaning programme is carried out both mechanically and manually with the frequency varying dependent on the type and usage of land, as defined in the Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse Issued under Section 89 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. We clean streets, drains, car parks, and other public areas to remove litter, a build up of leaves or any other items which could be a risk to public health and safety.
The Environmental Protection Act 1990 makes it an offence to litter on public open land, such as roads, pavements and parks.
Eligibility criteria
You can only report litter or an overflowing bin within East Renfrewshire.

We'll contact you within 10 working days to let you know the outcome of your report.
Litter fines
Community wardens will issue a £80 fixed penalty notice if you're caught littering.
If you don't pay a fixed penalty notice the case will be referred to the Procurator Fiscal.
If the case goes to court you can be fined up to £2500.
