A duty surveyor is available at our office on a Tuesday and Thursday between 9am and 1pm only. There won't be anyone from the Building Standards team available out with these times. Please don't visit our office at any other time unless you have a pre-arranged appointment.
Service information
If you wish to erect a temporary raised structure in East Renfrewshire then you must apply for a temporary raised structure permit.
Use this service to apply for a temporary raised structure permit if:
- you wish to erect a platform, stand, staging or similar structure which provides seating or standing
- the structure is 600m or more above ground level
Before you start
You must provide a detailed plan of the proposed structure including entry and exit points, emergency routes and where necessary lighting points.
You don't need to apply for permission if:
- a building warrant has been approved for the building
- scaffolding or similar equipment is used in the building works
How much does it cost?
The fee payable for inspection is £336.80.
For inspections required out with office hours an additional fee of £89.45 will apply. Applications received less than 14 days from the event an additional fee of £89.45 will apply.

What happens next?
We'll only provide the temporary structure permit when we carry out an inspection and we're satisfied it has been safely constructed and secured, with sufficient means of entrance and exit, including means of escape in case of fire or other emergency.
