Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE)

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is open to all young people aged 14-24. You can do a DofE award at one of three progressive levels Bronze, Silver or Gold.

What's the DofE?

DofE is the number one world youth leadership programme. You will have the chance to:

  • set and achieve goals
  • take part in fun activities
  • make new friends
  • volunteer in your local community
  • learn new skills
  • improve skills, i.e. communication, teamwork, leadership, decision making, , and problem solving.
  • complete an adventurous journey over 2, 3 and 4 days

Each level of the Award has the following sections:

  • volunteering
  • skills
  • physical recreation
  • expeditions
  • residential (gold only)

Award levels

Bronze

You need to be at least 14 to do this award. It takes at least 6 months.

Silver

You need to be at least 15 to do this award. It takes at least 12 months.

Gold

You need to be at least 16 to do this award. It takes at least 18 months and also includes a residential project.

How do I get involved?

The DofE Award is available through all our high schools, but you can also take part outside school through the EastRen Open group.
