Housing associations are registered social landlords. They're not private landlords. They provide housing in a similar way to the council and are non profit making. Each allocate homes in different ways and hold different types of stock that cater for a range of needs. 

Registering with multiple housing associations can greatly increase your chances of finding a suitable home. By applying to various associations, you widen your options, ensuring access to a broader range of available properties across different areas and housing types.

Mainstream is a broad term for all kinds of regular housing, like rented homes, homes you buy, or social housing. It's for individuals and families who can live on their own without any extra help.

Barrhead Housing Association holds a significant amount of housing stock in East Renfrewshire, the majority being mainstream housing. Lorretto Housing Association and Sanctuary Housing Association are some of the other providers  who can offer mainstream homes.

General needs housing is very similar to that of mainstream. It's for people who don't need special assistance.
